Neural modelling captures the sound and feel of a real amplifier or pedal, so you can play it as a plugin. MOD runs two neural modelling systems natively on every device: NAM and AIDA-X.

How it works.

1. Capture.Play a test signal through the real gear and record what comes out.
2. Train.A neural network learns how that gear shapes the sound.
3. Play.Load the model in a plugin and play it on your MOD device, in any pedalboard.

The spotlight

NAM A2, with the world’s largest tone library.

Neural Amp Modeler is the open-source technology players everywhere use to capture their gear. Its new A2 architecture, built by Tone3000 with NAM creator Steve Atkinson, is in their words “the most accurate and best sounding amp modeling technology in history”, with captures virtually indistinguishable from the original gear. It runs natively on every MOD device.

Tone3000’s library holds hundreds of thousands of NAM captures and impulse responses, and you can reach it straight from the MOD web interface, across the whole platform: every plugin that loads NAM models or IRs has a “Browse tones” entry. Pick a tone and it downloads straight into the plugin.

AIDA-X: realistic tone, minimal CPU.

AIDA-X was developed by AIDA DSP, in partnership with MOD Audio, from the ground up for embedded devices. It gives you realistic models of amps and pedals with a minimal CPU footprint, leaving plenty of room for the rest of your pedalboard. Its whole workflow is open: train a model online in Google Colab, share it on the forum, and play it on any MOD device or on your computer.
